This is a collection of works by Ukrainian photographer Boris Mikhailov. In post-communist Eastern Europe after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Mikhailov, a Ukrainian photographer, continues to document the lives of people who are still unable to receive social security or care and are forced to live in relentless poverty as homeless people in the midst of a new regime. This book captures a mock wedding of homeless people called "Bomzhes" almost entirely in their living environment. However, the "wedding," which is normally a joyous occasion, is transformed by their circumstances and Mikhailov's expressive style into a highly challenging work that highlights the absurdity and cruelty of life and confronts the viewer.
